Yes, another site in black. Annoying. Pretentious. Vain.
Whatever. ;)

Welcome to NorwesCon! (Scribbling madly from a wireless connection.) If you are holding a wedding, tournament, club event, or are just looking for portraits, you've come to the right place. For weddings, take a look at the bridal site. For everything else, look around. There's plenty to see, long with a complete web log of the Knights of the Old Republic photo project, which the studio did for presentation purposes.

Merry Christmas. I did these somewhere in the middle of editing the KOTOR photo shoot. Just a demonstration that if you are doing a gothic, Renaissance or futuristic themed wedding or gathering in Seattle -- there's only one photographer to call. Who's your Jedi Master? ;)
I absolutely enjoyed doing this set of photos -- truly, a great bunch of people. Check out the costumes, and while you're at it, buy a copy of "Dressing a Galaxy" at your local bookstore.

Happy Halloween. Or Nightmare Before Christmas. Also, you'll note a weblog link above. Yeah, I just can't stop. It becomes an addiction, I think. I'll have to convert to Livejournal at some point. Also, I have gallery pages to update, business cards to get made, equipment to get purchased before fiscal year end, and gallery pages to update. What a life.

My magnum opus is complete, and the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic photo shoot has editing has been completed and the final work published. See it all here. It was fun, but I'm happy to be moving on to other things. The odd thing is that I'll probably do something like it again... once I'm rested. I mean, I have all these lightsabers and things.

You really should read the KOTOR link below -- the web log has been ongoing, and contains all sorts of photos, notes and gossip about ongoing things. It's been interesting.
I've always been a portrait photographer for business professionals, as the image to the right shows. Some of my proudest moments have been known to only a few, but the photos please me every time I see them in print. The wedding site is going to be updated once the KOTOR project is finished and new business cards are in the works. The whole photo business is being repositioned to better address its true market, the place where it has been going for years, but I hadn't admitted to myself. As always, I simply do what I like to do... and hope you like it as well. ;)

I'm doing a Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic photo shoot soon. Read about it here. There is an entire ongoing web log that has been published, and it is growing. The photo shoot will take place on September 10th and 11th. It promises to be one of the largest things that I've done in quite some time.

Back from Convergence 11 with the gallery here. Usual story on the thumbnails. Our flight back was delayed seven hours. Alaska was pretty generous with vouchers. I had my laptop, a free sandwich, and a bunch of lattes. In all, I wasn't thrilled to be in the airport, but I can't say that I was really unhappy. Generous portions of vouchers went a long way towards making me happy. As did the valium prescription I had, but that's another story. ;)
I'm going to be getting a few small studio upgrades, then cleaning the place up for some guests I'm having in early June. I hope to visit Asia Devinyl in San Francisco before she leaves for Washington D.C. in July, but, if not, it is not the end of the world. D.C. has one of the only sushi restaurants in the country that serves fugu, and I really want to try it.

NorwesCon 28 photographs are finished. Let the thumbnails load before you go nuts clicking on things, or you'll have to refresh the page. Sometimes the good guys wear black -- remember that as you look at the bottom of the page. And some have pointed out my resemblance to Lord Ba'al on Stargate SG-1, which was a theme at NorwesCon, which is the subject of a photograph. So there.
Lots of folks have pointed out that I never posted photos for NorwesCon 27. Well, honestly, I didn't take that many, so I've just left them in my private collection. Really a pity, because one of my gorgeous friends was moshed on by another good looking friend and you'll never see the evidence. Such a shame. Oh, yeah. They were both girls. Ah, well. Send checks to the address on the sidebar. Paypal is also accepted. :)

Tax Day. Yay. I had to write a check for $2757, oops, never could figure out that withholding thing. NorwesCon was a blast, as was the Grand Ba'al at the Mercury. Prepping for Convergence XI. I know that I owe Bones, Douglas and Jen photos. I have a ton of wedding photos to post as well. I am so behind.
I have a better link for my writings, the KOTORFanmedia site. You'll find me at this self-worshipping link here. You can even see the promised photo of me as Revan, in Alaine's Most Excellently Designed Dark Jedi Outfit. Head right over and read all sorts of nifty technical details in the review for that photo. Alaine would talk to you, but she is busy playing KOTOR II right now.

Rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated. Actually, a few galleries were updated when you weren't looking. Off to NorwesCon and Convergence soon. I've played more Knights of the Old Republic than anyone should and am a self published author as a result. Photos of me as Revan (or the Exile, if you prefer, since I look more like the promo poster character) soon. Have you seen my DeLaOsa & Associates, LLC site? How about the wedding site? Go have a look. Anyway, been plenty busy. It's just not the artistic, you'd actually be interested in, sort of busy.

A handful of photos from Jenna and Michael's wedding. Convergence photos are done, NorwesCon no closer to being done.
Have to write employee reviews this month, so things might be a bit slow in coming. I'm also planning a handful of photo projects. Also, check out some images of The Fascination Street Band. If you haven't gone to a show, these guys rule. Their covers are fantastic.
Before I go, though, check out photos from Playboy's 50th Anniversary Tour. They were at the Catwalk. Click the link to see about as close as I'm likely to get to photographing a Playmate. :)

Couple of trips, etc. and so on. I'm now getting around to posting Convergence X pictures. I have a wedding and photos from NorwesCon that I'm planning on putting up as well.
The photos aren't all completed, but I thought I'd complete and post twenty a day until I was done. Oh, I installed a boost-timing controller in the Miata, which smoothed it right out. I have paid to have done lots of yard work. They aren't kidding when they call houses money pits -- even new ones have lots of maintenance. Despite the cost, the dedicated home studio space has been nice.

You know, there are blinds in my house and studio, and a supercharger in the Miata. Things are going pretty well.
Recently, I had gotten the idea to do a tribute page. As I look through books and magazines, I realize that there are a lot of different things that interest me and photographic styles that I want to share with others. So, this page came about. Over time, as I do more of this sort of thing, I'll add photos to this page.

Well, Happy New Year. Hope you've been well.
Thought I'd share a few holiday photos of us. I only took the first, sort of as a little demonstration of what you can do with a simple point-n-shoot camera. The next was at a holiday party we were at, followed by a neat little photo by the folks at Shotsnow.com.

The months fly by and the next thing you know, it's nearly the end of the year. I've had some ideas for some extended just-for-fun photo sessions, but haven't managed to execute on anything. Weddings and photos for corporate presentations have come first, along with trying to get a handle on all the household things that are so far behind.
The portraits page has a new photo. Nicole was interested in a photo of Veronica Lake done by Hurrell. Working from a tiny .jpg in my new studio space, I created my interpretation for her. Looking at the end result, although the lighting was very period, there was still something off. The pose was right, as was the sepia and soft focus, but it still was my "style". When I found a larger version of the original image, I realized something. Unlike the original, I had used a very small aperture. The photo still has that early 1940's Hollywood look, but it isn't quite as faithful as I'd planned.
A couple of my friends, Jodeen and Hypnox Doug both bought Canon Digital Rebel EOS-300D's. It shows that Canon has hit their market with that camera. Now we're all using Canon gear. I'm conflicted about that. Although I like the lenses, I still think that Nikon's flash metering system is superior and the Nikon lens mount offers more choices in camera bodies (not so important in film, very important in digital). Oh, well, six-of-one, half-dozen of the other -- what do I know, anyway? :)

Just in time for the Convergence 10 voting, I bring you my Convergence 9 photos. Enjoy. :)

Remember the cute folks I told you about... um... months ago? Well, here's Dave and Debbie. And before you ask, I'm done editing the Convergence photos, now I just need to create thumbnails and surrounding text. Soon.
Tomorrow will be Alaine and my second anniversary. That's a heck of a thing.

I'm in San Francisco. Wheeeeeeeeeeee!

Dressed like a pirate, went to a party. Just another average weekend. :)
No more progress on the Convergence photos, but got a lot of yard work done. Going to San Francisco in two weeks on business.

I'm sad. :( Today, I sold the old home and I miss a few things. Click here to see the garden.
The Convergence photos are about 40% done.

I'll tell you a secret. I always get up at 7AM, weekday or weekend. When Alaine sleeps in until eleven or noon, you get a new photo gallery. See how that works? :) Anyway, I put up the photos of Cat & Eric's wedding. That wedding was a lot of fun.
Next set of photos that I'm going to do are from Convergence 9. There are a *lot* of photos, so it may take me a bit.

Okay, I schlepped off some older entries to an archive; now I just need to figure out how to fit them with the design of the site and repost them. 'Cause I know you come here just to read my writing. ;)
I was looking at the Seagoth list, and someone mentioned that Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary Eleventh Edition affirms that "goth" (as used by goths) is now a word:
Goth: noun....
....2 often not capitalized
a)rock music marked by dark and morbid lyrics,
b)a fan or performer of goth
....3 : a person who wears mostly black clothing, uses dark dramatic makeup, and often has dyed black hair
The American Heritage has this to say:
goth
PRONUNCIATION: gth
NOUN: 1. A style of rock music that often evokes bleak, lugubrious imagery. 2. A performer or follower of this style of music.
ETYMOLOGY: From Gothic (from a view of Gothic styles or genres as dark or gloomy).
Now, I'll admit, I have no idea what "lugubrious" means...

Well, I snuck in some photos ahead of the order I took them in. I hope you'll understand.
By the way -- Cat, you're welcome. Always.

Okay, I put up a new logo (courtesy Mr. Mike), created the NorwesCon gallery, and snuck a few photos of Cathy and Eric's wedding on the "Wedding" page.
Now that I've found my laptop, more will follow. :)

Well, that was exciting.
You might be wondering why you haven't seen photos of (NorwesCon, Convergence, Debbie's Wedding, Cathy's Wedding, etc.) and so on.
Well, aside from all the traveling, in a flurry of faxes, we bought a new house -- one with space for a very decent sized photo studio. I'm very sad to leave the old place -- I was very involved in its design and four years of gardening has produced an outstanding yard. At the same time, I can't deny the allure of MORE SPACE.
So things have been crazy.
I think of you all the time. Really.
And I'll work at getting something up.

Welcome from Convergence 9 in Las Vegas. The Flamingo Hotel has high speed internet access in the hotel room and I happen to have a laptop. Woot.
NorwesCon is done, I was working for two days, then it was off to Vegas. I'll be back tomorrowish, then prepping for WinHEC. For a guy who doesn't like travel, I've been doing a lot of it.
